Stop BSing Yourself
We’re all master salespeople when it comes to justifying our own decisions.
You know that thing you really want to do, the one you keep telling yourself can wait? Or the path you're walking that you say is the right choice, but deep down you know it's fear or comfort calling the shots?
Yeah.
That’s you… selling yourself a story.
And the scariest part?
You're buying it.
I’ve been reflecting a lot this week on how easy it is to deceive ourselves. My old pastor Andy Stanley talked a lot about we are the best at selling ourselves a terrible idea. We rationalize bad choices. We spiritualize laziness as self care. We hide avoidance behind “noble sacrifice.” And the result? We drift. We suffer.
The truth is: every choice compounds. And sometimes, the damage isn’t obvious until it is.
If you want to live the life you were created for, you have to develop the courage to stop bullsh*tting yourself.
Invite the kind of people who will call you out when you’re too deep in the fog to see clearly.
💡 Parting Shot:
This weekend, try this:
Write down one decision you’ve been avoiding or rationalizing.
Ask yourself (brutally, kindly): What’s the real reason I haven’t acted?
Then ask someone you trust: Do you think I’m being honest with myself?
For me last year is was compromising my priorities to please toxic leadership.
You might be surprised by your answer.
