Unlock Your Ideal Week With These 2 Steps
Purge your schedule of other people's priorities! + My Google calendar template
Are you feeling overwhelmed by the whirlwind of other people's priorities, feeling like your own dreams and desires are getting sidelined?
I sure am. This struggle is a constant reality for me. Today I’m going to break down how I (attempt) to tame my to-do list and be proactive, not reactive in the way I spend the most valuable resource… my time.
So I made a YouTube video about it. Because of course I did:
The Magic Duo: Physical Notebook & Digital Calendar
We’re going to carve out your Ideal Week using just two powerful tools: a simple physical notebook and Google calendar. Together, we'll make your weekly schedule align with your actual priorities.

So Riley, what the heck is the “Ideal Week”?
What does an "Ideal Week" look like? Beyond the catchy productivity term from Ali Abdaal (love him) lies a simple yet powerful concept within Michael Hyatt's Full Focus System. It's about crafting a week that mirrors your personal and professional priorities, balancing commitments to yourself and your loved ones. Imagine a week where workouts, family time, and work commitments coexist harmoniously. That's the week we're aiming for!
Step 1: Pen to Paper
You gotta just start with pen on paper. Jotting down what truly matters to you – from hobbies to career goals, from dream vacations to date nights. This step is about clarity and honesty, distinguishing between your priorities and what obligations you've taken on that fall outside of them. Then take one week to conduct a “time audit” where you log everything you do in a given day. It doesn’t have to be perfect, just consistent so you can have an honest view of how you currently spend your time.
Step 2: Digitalize Your Dreams
With insights in hand, we transition from the paper to the digital. You’ll create your ideal calendar on Google Calendar, integrating realistic work hours, workouts, Hobbies etc. It's about visualizing and then actualizing your week in color-coded clarity. (See the video for a demonstration)
Staying True and Adaptable
The key to success? Regular reviews and adjustments. I recommend Sunday evenings to compare your actual week with your ideal template, allowing for flexibility and accountability.
Your Turn
I'm curious – what's missing from your current week that could bring you a step closer to your Ideal Week? Remember, achieving more while doing less isn't just a dream; with intention and the right tools, it's possible.
MTFBWY,
Riley
